Hals und Beinbruch!

Tonight is opening night for the Hamburg Players’ production of Steel Magnolias.  I’m once again doing sound, but unlike previous productions where the sound duties have been fairly light, this play is pure madness.  We have gunshots, dogs barking, phones ringing, explosions and radios playing and most of the time these things are happening at the same time or extremely close to each other. This play requires two CD players and 7 different CDs plus my cranky sound companion Bertha the sampler, who is being stretch to her limit. (Yes, I name my equipment).

To say I am stressed is a complete understatement, especially since I don’t want to screw anything up that is going to throw off or make life difficult for the amazing cast they have assembled.  Seriously, this cast is incredible and damn if they don’t have me bawling my eyes out by the end of the play. I’m hoping the emotional punch will get less the more times I see it, cause I don’t think I can cry and run sound at the same time.

If you are located in Hamburg, please come along and see this production.  We are running from 31st October to 3rd November and 7th November to the 10th November at the Theatre an der Marschnerstraße.

Now off to overdose on caffeine cause production week is one long sleepless week, especially when you are trying to work full-time as well.
