A pile of NCEA exam booklets, returned and mar...

Since I blogged in great details about the preparation and the sitting of the B1 Zertifikat Deutsch exam, it is only fair that I also blog in great detail about my results.

Firstly, the most important thing – I passed!!

My total mark was 87.5% which translates to a German grade of 2 or Good.

Now for all the gritty details – in the written part of the exam I got 90%. The written part consists of reading comprehension in which I got 70 out of 75 (93.3%), Sprachbausteine in which I got 28.5 out of 30 (95%), listening comprehension in which I got 65 out of 75 (86.7%) and writing in which I got 39 out of 45 (86.7%).  This pretty much went as expected as listening and writing are definitely my two weakest skills.

Then in speaking section I got 80%.  The speaking was divided up into Introducing Yourself in which I got 12 out of 15 (80%), Conversation in which I got 24 out of 30 (80%) and Problem Solving in which I also got 24 out of 30 (80%).

I am over the moon about my result.  I could not be happier. This is proof that I can actually learn a foreign language – and learn it quite well, if my marks are any indication.

Thank you to everyone who helped me with the corrections of my many practice letter writing, as you can see they really did help. Also, thank you for everyone who gave me encouragement when I convinced myself that I couldn’t do this. You gave me the confidence to go in and nail this exam!
